This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purchase chapter.

For those Purchase students who don’t live near New York City, being back at school means one great thing: concerts. This September is booked solid with great shows in NYC, Brooklyn, and even some here on campus. No matter your budget, or your preference, there are countless options for everyone.

Wyldlife is a Purchase band, with three members that graduated last year. If that’s not incentive to go support a great group of guys, than I don’t know what is. Despite playing countless shows in the tri-state area, this one means a lot. “”Bowery ballroom is one of my all time favorite venues so its an honor to be able to be able to grace that stage with two equally talented bands,” said bassist, Spencer Alexander.

Purchase alumni, Dan Deacon, will be back for yet another performance this month. His shows entail dance circles, running around the venue, and crowd surfing to his upbeat, electronica. Purchase students are gearing up for the secret show, and are ready to get loose. “Anytime I get to be awkwardly close to people I don’t know and can feel comfortable about it, it’s a good occasion,” said junior, Franco Del Valle, “and fun music helps.”

As for the other shows on campus, there are some great ones to look forward to. Spook houses, a band based out of Ridgewood, N.J., will be playing their first show this semester. “Last year we had Purchase people play instruments,” said band member Alkis Meimaris, “This year we’ve got the regular band playing. It’s going to be fun.”

There are plenty of options to satisfy your concert cravings this month. Whether you can make it to NYC or not, you can enjoy tons of music in the upcoming weeks.

Christie is a sophomore journalism major at Purchase College in NY, but she’s a Jersey Girl at heart. When she isn’t studying (or being sarcastic), she spends her summers selling crafty jewelry on Long Beach Island and making coffee for her superiors at Parker and Partner’s Marketing Resources. She’s a sucker for debates, sushi, and a really good book. Her dream job (this week) would be at the Village Voice, but she’d be happy with a byline and paycheck. She hopes to make HerCampus bigger and better than ever at Purchase and is excited for the chance to work with these lovely HC ladies.
