Catch Your Valentine’s Eye with These Date Night Styles

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purchase chapter.

Once again, it’s that awkward time of the year. Its annual presence will either bring one’s heart to a flutter, or (if you’re like me) roll your eyes at that overly romantic couple. Sadly enough, If you fit into the category of the latter, this article may not be a must read on your list. Fortunately for those involved in a relationship, and have not a clue for date night attire, why not check out what these Purchase girls had to say?

“Well, I always feel sexiest in cut-outs.” says Purchase freshman, Shanee’ Mathews. A prominent strawberry blush visible on her cheeks, Mathews mentions another Valentines date night favorite. “Dresses with cut-out pieces show just enough to keep my boyfriends attention, and aren’t too risqué.” Perhaps Mathews could try Urban Outfitter’s, Cooperative Ponte Mesh-Back Dress? Boyfriend to Davis, Shomar Lewis, leans over. “It doesn’t matter what she wears,” Lewis says. “She always puts it together [nicely].”

Vanessa Ng, valentine to Hannibal King offers her perspective on what to wear when with your beau. “We’ve been together for five years,” Ng says with a knowing smile. “That doesn’t mean I’m going to let myself go though.” Delving into her most favorable pieces to wear on Valentine’s Day, Ng discusses her “guilty pleasure for lace sets.” The arts management major could venture off into Forever21 and try their Butterfly Lace Crop Top?

As for senior, Kristina Curumi; “I love anything woven knit.” With a shrug, Curumi speaks of her relationship of one year with boyfriend, Adam Davis. “I feel completely comfortable with [Adam].” Pausing for a moment, Curumi continues. “So why not wear something comfortable and yet, sexy.” Maybe Curumi and other “wool loving” girls alike should try Anthropologie’s Crimson Chevrons Blazer; the perfect cuddle-worthy piece fitting for the season long.

Christie is a sophomore journalism major at Purchase College in NY, but she’s a Jersey Girl at heart. When she isn’t studying (or being sarcastic), she spends her summers selling crafty jewelry on Long Beach Island and making coffee for her superiors at Parker and Partner’s Marketing Resources. She’s a sucker for debates, sushi, and a really good book. Her dream job (this week) would be at the Village Voice, but she’d be happy with a byline and paycheck. She hopes to make HerCampus bigger and better than ever at Purchase and is excited for the chance to work with these lovely HC ladies.
