WHo is KimChi Chic?
First established in 2019, “KimChi Chic” was created by Kim Chi, a drag queen who had appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2016. She was the first Korean drag queen to go on the show and placed in the top three.
According to The Cut, she was “inspired by her own desire for affordable, quality makeup,” in creating this brand. Kim Chi also donates two percent of all sales to the Trevor Project, an organization dedicated to protecting the mental health of the LGBTQ+ youth.
The brand sells online and in 130 CVS stores across the United States. They offer makeup and skincare products as well as tools such as handheld mirrors and makeup brushes.

Although they started back in 2019, KimChi Chic’s real popularity started to grow this past year on TikTok.
With the rise of “TikTok Shop” many people started seeing videos of their products and purchasing them through the app (myself included). With all the new attention, they started making enormous sales.
