Popular music is constantly evolving as more artists are able to expose their music to larger audiences through social media and streaming apps. However, there is always that one song each year that gets played on repeat and you just can’t get it out of your head. We aren’t even two months into 2022 and I can’t stop listening to “Woman” by Doja Cat.

Do you ever wonder what song everyone was blasting on a fun night out with the girls or playing in your nearest mall the year you were born? According to Billboard’s Hot 100 Charts, here is the most popular song the year you came into the universe. Check out yours below!

  1. 1990 – “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” by Michael Bolton

This R&B/Soul and Pop song took 1990 by storm. If you were born this year, your parents were probably listening to this song on date night or in the background of their favorite television drama.

  1. 1991 – “All The Man That I Need” by Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston was undoubtedly the queen of music in the 1990s. Everyone knew her distinct voice as one of the greatest of all time. Houston’s music has been highlighted on the Billboard Top 100 chart numerous times throughout her career.

  1. 1992 – “Jump” by Kris Kross

Are you singing this song in your head as you read it? I know I am. One of the most iconic songs of the 1990s, “Jump” is a hip hop staple. This song is still extremely popular and can be found on almost any hip hop playlist. If you were born this year, jump around!

  1. 1993 – “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston

Do I need to explain this one? Whitney Houston changed the music world forever, no question. This is one of Houston’s most popular and praised songs. If you haven’t heard the vocals on this song, I highly suggest you give it a listen. Fun fact: Did you know this song was originally written by Dolly Parton in 1973?

  1. 1994 – “All For Love” by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting

This song follows Bryan Adams’ 1991 hit “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You.” Adams’ songs are classic comfort songs that just make you want to give someone a hug or tell someone you love them.

  1. 1995 – “Creep” by TLC

Before The Pussycat Dolls and other iconic girl groups, TLC left its mark on hip hop in the mid 1990s. Other popular songs by TLC you’ve definitely heard before are “Waterfalls” and “No Scrubs.”

  1. 1996 – “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men

Before the Mariah Carey McDonald’s meal in 2022, Carey released critically acclaimed singles throughout the 1990s. This duet with Boyz II Men describes the heartbreak of losing a loved one. “One Sweet Day” is said to be about the AIDS epidemic, which was causing loss and pain across the world.

  1. 1997 – “Un-Break My Heart” by Toni Braxton

This song also has to do with heartbreak, shocker! I guess this time period wasn’t as fun as it seems. However, it seems that heartbreak could lead to number one singles.

  1. 1998 – “Together Again” by Janet Jackson

For those who do not know, Janet Jackson is Micheal Jackson’s younger sister and the youngest sibling of the Jackson family.
