A Thank You Letter To My Senior Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

Before I came to Penn State, I was told that I’d find my friends for life at Penn State. I was told that it wasn’t  four years, it’s for life. However, I never thought that now only with only four weeks in the semester, I’d have to say goodbye to some of my best friends. Yes, the seniors.

Selfishly, but not surprisingly, I don’t want them to leave. Maybe it’s because I get along with older people better or maybe it’s because I like being the baby that they can take care of. I’m not sure of the reason, but I am sure of a few things.

The first being, I’m very lucky to have met these people. Whether it’s the girls in my sorority, the girls from Her Campus PSU (s/o to all of you) or the boys in different fraternities that I can always laugh with, I’m forever thankful for all of you.

Second, you’ve taught me more than any professor in any classroom. Whether it being a bad night at Champs or teaching me that I deserve nothing but the best when it comes to boys, you’ve taught me to love myself, not take things so seriously and that you should always go to Café 210 after class when it’s nice out.

Third, you’ve shown me that there is no “perfect Penn State experience.” You seniors have seen it all and done it all, and if there’s one thing that you’ve told me is that it will get easier. From what I’ve heard everyone finds their way and even if that way is the walk to Primanti’s.

Fourth and finally, to get involved as much as possible. One of my senior friends probably knows everyone at Penn State. Whenever I go out to eat with her, she always runs into somebody she knows. And a lot of my friends are like that. I always ask them, “how do you know everyone?” And they always explain to me that the best way to make friends is to first be friendly and then get involved in THON, Greek Life, clubs, etc. I only hope to have as many friends as they do by the time I graduate.

I can’t thank you all enough for giving me these valuable life lessons. I’m getting emotional even writing this, I’m going to miss all of you so much. I only hope that I can have the same impact on a freshman that you have all had on me. I can’t wait for you all to visit me at a tailgate in the Fall.
