Sitting in my living room I hear the faint sound of unfamiliar music playing loudly. Wondering where it is coming from, I make my way over to my double doors that look out onto the Duomo, a view that will never cease to amaze me, open them and automatically think, “I cannot believe I live here.”
I am immediately taken aback by what I see. One man sits alone, playing on what looks from here like a giant metal bowl. And as a crowd begins to form, he continues to play and once again I am reminded at just how beautiful Florence is.
I cannot believe I live here.
Every time I step outside or look out my window I lose my breath at the sights and sounds of this city. Now that I am here, it seems almost ridiculous that I was so nervous to escape to this wonderful city that I will call home for the next four months.
There is so much beauty in everything that exists here and part of me never wants to leave. There is so much life and love in this culture and I cannot wait to breathe in every aspect of Firenze, especially it’s people.
And for that reason alone, for now I will sit watching a stranger create music unable to believe that this is really my life.
