Spring Break Decompress

As spring break approaches, people are preparing for their fun vacations or relaxing at home — either one is totally OK!

However, if you are “staying in” during spring break, there are many things you can do to decompress from your busy semester.

Whether it be watching your favorite TV shows, reading a new book, doing some self-care or just spending time with your family, these can help you relax and take time away from school work.

Here are some things that you could do to unwind and recharge.

Get outside!

Going outside, whether to sit on your porch or deck for a few minutes or do physical exercise, to get some fresh air is good for you.

Get some sleep. You probably need it.

While you cannot “catch up” on sleep, your body probably needs all the extra sleep it can get.

Watch some of your favorite movies and tv shows.

Personally, I will be catching up on the latest seasons of “Outer Banks” and “YOU” during my break.

You could watch that show you’ve been meaning to watch or sit down and watch your favorite movie with your family or friends.

Treat yourself!

Get your nails or hair done. Buy that top you’ve been eying, buy yourself a fun drink and go on a hot girl walk.

Sometimes even walking around the mall and window shopping helps me take my mind off things.

Spend time with people you love.

If you are in your hometown for spring break, there’s a chance some of your friends will be too. Ask them to grab lunch or go to the movies.

Spending time with people you love and care about is relaxing, and it can be so much fun to catch up with people you haven’t seen since winter break.

Take a day trip somewhere.

Spring break at home can feel boring, especially when many people you go to school with are probably on vacation somewhere warm or tropical.

Grab some friends and take a fun trip somewhere close to you. It could be the nearest city for lunch, a museum tour, in nature for a hike or walk around a cute historic town.

Eat your favorite meals at home, whether home-cooked by your mom, dad or at your favorite restaurant that is only available in your hometown; this will be a much-needed break from college food.

Try something new!

Maybe there is something you’ve been dying to try, like making bagels from scratch or learning how to knit. This week would be the perfect time to kickstart your newest hobby.

You could even take an art or cooking class at a place local to you.

Pamper yourself.

Do some much-needed self-care over the break.

Do a face mask, update your beauty and skin care products repertoire, and go to bed earlier.

There are many ways you can decompress and relax over spring break, and it is definitely necessary.

If going on vacation and partying for another week doesn’t sound like something you would want to do, hopefully, this list gives you ideas of fun things to do during your spring break at home!
