Spring break is the closest thing college students have to an extended mental health break. These trips have been in the works for weeks and it’s almost time to leave the classroom behind to enter a lovely change of scenery.

Whether you are lounging poolside at a Mexican resort, hanging out in an RV in Upstate New York or seeing the Eiffel Tower with your own eyes, odds are there is a song to match the experience.

Music, in my humble opinion, makes everything better. It puts me in any headspace and mood I want it to.

Frolicking through campus? Yeah, there are many songs for it. Staring into space and having an inner crisis? Oh, I can name a few.

When I go on vacation, I like crafting a playlist that matches the trip’s energy. The music accompanies me while I’m en route to my destination, already there or even when I’m home to reminisce on all the fun I had.

That said, here are songs to add to your playlist based on your spring break destination.

Tropical Getaway

Nothing sounds more appetizing than sipping a piña colada with oversized sunglasses on. Feel the salty air and the sun beaming down on your skin with these songs.

  2. Call It Like I See It” by Big Time Rush
  3. “Sunsets for Somebody Else” by Jack Johnson feat. RogĂŞ
  4. “Eternal Sunshine” by Lou Val
  5. “New Money” by Calvin Harris feat. 21 Savage

Trip to the City

Look around, take in the big lights and commotion to become the main character. So much is happening around you — how much are you willing to observe?

  1. I Don’t Know Why” by NOTD feat. Astrid
  2. Already Over” by Sabrina Carpenter
  3. Nicotine” by Pretty Boy Aaron
  4. “Stargazing” by The Neighbourhood
  5. “FEEL SOMETHING DIFFERENT” by Bea Miller feat. AminĂ©

International Sightseeing

The songs that would play during a powerful sightseeing montage in a coming-of-age film. I mean, I’ve never been abroad, but if I were a music supervisor for a movie, I would use these.

  1. Always Been You” by Shawn Mendes
  2. YKWIM” by Yot Club
  3. “Pyramids” by Frank Ocean
  4. Let Go” by Ark Patrol feat. Veronika Redd
  5. Poems” by Hippo Campus

Rural Countryside

Something folky, expressive and freeing that I’m sure even the livestock will love.

  1. Ready to Go” by Noah Cyrus
  2. “Everything I Love” by Temecula Road
  3. She Calls Me Back” by Noah Kahan
  4. “Cold Coffee” by Ed Sheeran
  5. “In Control” by Greensky Bluegrass

Camping Under the Stars

Use the nature around you to escape the hassle of urban life and stargaze for a little. Each breath you take will feel cleansing and filled with light.

  1. “As I’m Fading Into You” by Blevine
  2. “right where you left me” by Taylor Swift
  3. “Lose It” by Oh Wonder
  4. Bloom” by The Paper Kites
  5. Feels Like Home” by Caamp

Staycation

Use your time at home to reenergize, remember your worth and reset. Spend time relishing in your favorite home routines, people and things.

  1. “Keep It Movin’” by Olivia O’Brien
  2. Prom” by SZA
  3. “See Me” by Rich Brian
  4. That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra
  5. The Woman” by Alyssa DiCarlantonio

No matter where you go or what you do, there is a song for it. Enjoy making your soundtrack as well as new memories this spring break!
