Ranking The Pizza Places of State College

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

While Happy Valley is known for many things, such as ice cream, wrestling and crazy tailgates, pizza is not one of them. It is not because we do not have good pizza, but compared to areas such as New York City, Chicago and Detroit, we’re not the greatest.

So, here is my honest review of the pizza places in State College.

7. Canyon Pizza

I know this is controversial, but I enjoy Canyon Pizza sober. I know that is a rather unpopular opinion, but their pizza is not terrible. However, out of all of the places in State College, this is still my last choice for pizza.

6. College Pizza

I had College Pizza once, and from what I can remember, it was good. But, that is all I remember. When I think of College Pizza, I do not think of the quality of their pizza, but instead that one picture that was memed by PSU Barstool with a couple kissing under the sign.

5. Snaps

Snaps is a build-your-own personal pizza place that is perfect to satisfy everyone’s different pizza cravings. My personal favorite is the Hot Little Honey pizza. However, I personally think a specialty pizza craving is different from a pizza craving, which is why I ranked Snaps at number five.

4. Doggie’s Pizza

One of my friends works at Doggie’s Pizza, and I am not sure if she would be offended at this particular ranking. Doggie’s Pizza has good pizza, but it is not one that I gravitate towards when I order pizza.

3. Allen Street Pizza

Allen Street Pizza is relatively new to State College and has only existed for a bit more than a year. However, they have taken the world (at least my world) by storm here in State College, and they have been such a reliable pizza place.

2. Monte Carlo

I discovered Monte Carlo’s pizza when I was on my search for the best wings in State College, which was incredibly hard. I am pleased to say Monte Carlo’s has good wings and good pizza, which in my mind makes a great pizza place.

1. Faccia Luna

I have talked to several people who agree that Faccia Luna has the best pizza in State College. I love going to Faccia Luna for pizza, and I recommend it whenever someone asks where to get pizza when they visit here.

Honorable Mention: Giuseppe’s Pizzeria

I wanted to include Giuseppe’s in this list because it just opened, and I have only had the opportunity to try it once. That being said, my experience was great and the pizza was delicious, so I would recommend it to any pizza lover.

Pizza is a beloved, versatile food that is a symbol of social gatherings, quick meals and the solution when nobody wants to cook. Having a good pizza place is a staple in a community, and State College is fortunate to have so many great options for students.
