Dear Best Friend (You know who you are),

There are a few things I need you to know.

Know that I miss you all the time. Even if you see Instagram pictures and Facebook posts with my other friends, know that I am constantly wishing that you were there with me. Although I’m happy, my life is always different without you. Know that you are the only person that I would ever send my ugly Snapchat selfies to. Know that you will always be the first person I text when something major happens in my life. Know that you will always be my number one (or 2, 3, 4 and 5 because you are just that important) no matter what. No matter where life takes us or where we end up, I will always be here for you.

There are also about a million things that I need to thank you for.

Thank you for never judging me and letting me be myself. Thank you for skyping with me for hours to listen to all of the drama in my life, even though you have better things to do. Thank you for always finding a way to put a smile on my face, even when I’m sad. Thank you for answering my 3 a.m. crisis texts, even though we are in different time zones. Thank you for letting me be the only person who is allowed to see you without makeup on. And thank you, (and your parents) for treating me like I’m part of the family.

Thank you for making the most of our time together. Thank you for walking in the rain with me for five hours to make up for the time we’ve been apart; for belting out songs in random cupcake shops with me. Thank you for laughing uncontrollably at stupid YouTube videos with me; for always being you and acting as though we saw each other yesterday, even though we haven’t seen each other in three years. Thank you for making new amazing memories and allowing me to remember why we are and always will be best friends. I am so grateful for the short amount of time that we get to spend together. More importantly, thank you for tackling me in the airport when I got there and ugly crying with me when we ultimately had to say our goodbyes.

I just want to say thank you. Although we may be on opposite coasts and thousands of miles away, you are always right here with me. You are on my mind 24/7 when we aren’t together. No matter how many new friends we make and how many new experiences we have, we will always find our way back to each other. No matter how many times we’ve had to say goodbye, it never gets any easier.  Thank you for sticking by me even when you aren’t physically with me and always giving me advice even from far away. You’re my person, and I love you. Thank you for being you.

Love,

Your Best Friend

P.S. Miss you already.
