Listen, I am all for gossip surrounding celebrities and their relationships and break-ups. I love seeing celebrities happy with their partners and living their best life with friends and family. Yes, I am also nosy and want to know every detail on why a certain celeb couple broke up.
Safe to say I am like that with people in my own life and people in my hometown. My best friend and I are quick to notice when someone’s profile picture changes on Instagram from a couple together to just themselves, or a highlight is taken down.
Most online followers of these celebrity relationships are teenage girls, and there is no shame in following and wanting to know every detail. What is not good is when people find out a celeb couple broke up, and false reasons are made up and circulated, even when we are given the truth on the situation.
People forget that celebrities are still human, and when they are in a relationship or going through a break-up, celebs are going through the same emotions we would be going through if we were in that position. It is hard to keep in mind that celebrities are humans too.
So we find out a celebrity couple breaks up, and they make a video saying, “it was a mutual decision,” “we love each other,” “there’s no bad blood, do not send hate their way.” This is when people feel entitled to know exactly what happened, what the actual conversation was like, the other party’s opinion and so on.
An example of this is Alix Earle and Braxton Berrios. This couple was the it couple of the NFL (besides Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, of course) and TikTok.
In mid December of 2025, Earle had posted a tearful video on her TikTok account announcing the breakup. In this video, Earle stated that Berrios was still her best friend and that it was a mutual split due to distance and wanting to figure out her own path, basically without having to focus on anyone else.
Earle and Berrios both lived in Miami and met at a party. This couple made their official debut on the red carpet of the ESPY Awards in July of 2023. They are a couple that I looked up to and looked forward to their TikTok content together when he was featured.
However, season 34 of Dancing with the Stars started in early 2025, where Earle was a competitor. This season went through September, October and halfway through November. Not once did Berrios show up to a show to support Earle, and people, including myself, started speculating about the status of the relationship.
I understand that this was also in the middle of the NFL football season, and since he is newer, he can’t miss a practice, meeting or game as easily as older players. But I find it hard to believe that he could not make it to one show.
In December of 2025, news outlets and plenty of people online started speculating about a breakup; it was just slightly before the announcement was made by the two themselves. I am a big believer in not believing everything you see on social media until it comes from the actual source. That is why I did not believe anything until Earle and Berrios themselves made an announcement.
To me, this is all understandable. To others online, they thought differently.
After most celebrity break-ups, everyone seems to believe that someone had to have cheated or done something wrong. People online seem to believe that break-ups can’t be a simple, easy, wanting to go our separate ways decision.
I was seeing online how people believed Berrios was out cheating on Earle, and that he was a bad guy for not supporting Earle at least one week during her time on Dancing with the Stars. Not only might that be hurtful to Berrios because it is untrue, but it might also hurt Earle because people were sending hate to Berrios for something he didn’t do.
Anytime a couple breaks up, people comment that “true love is dead” or “it can’t be true,” which can be hurtful for the people going through the break-up because the people online don’t know how toxic a relationship might be, and those two people might already be disappointed that they could not make a relationship work. It is not okay to accuse someone of something that probably is not true because it is the story they want to believe and not the story that was given to them from the source.
People online have to start realizing that not everything on social media is factual, and always check the actual source when it comes to breakups. People need to start being more respectful and understanding if celebrities don’t want to tell us every detail of what happened. Lastly, people need to be reminded that celebs are humans too, going through real hurtful emotions, and don’t need people online making things worse or heightened.
