The End of the Semester, As Told By Holiday Movies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

With just a few weeks left until winter break, we often find ourselves struggling more than we have since the start of the semester. Finals are just on the horizon, it’s dark outside after 4 p.m. and you’re probably still full from Thanksgiving. On the bright side, this is technically the best part of the semester because it’s almost over — which means Netflix and home is near.

Whichever way you choose to look at it, the end of the semester is almost here. With that in mind, here is what this time of the year is like, as told by some of your favorite holiday movies:

When you see your final exam schedule

When someone says they don’t have any finals

When all the food and sleep from Thanksgiving break catches up to you

When you go to the gym for the first time all semester just to avoid studying

When you see your engineering friend’s schedule for next semester

When you have to prepare yourself for the unpredictable weather

When you can’t remember what floor the ugly sweater party is on

When the eggnog kicks in

When guys step up their game because apparently “cuffing season” is a thing

When all you have left in your apartment is peanut butter and tortilla chips but you don’t want to buy new groceries because you’re leaving soon

When your countdown to break seems to be moving backwards

When you walk out of class and it’s dark outside

When your professor says the final exam isn’t cumulative

When you’re trying to review your notes and you have no idea what they mean

When you’ve spent the last 10 hours studying in the library

When you try to cross the street on campus

When it’s Wing Wednesday in the HUB and someone tries to cut in front of you

When you’re one of those people who doesn’t enjoy “All I Want For Christmas Is You” on a constant loop

When you have know idea what to get your friends for Christmas

When you’re filling out the SRTE’s

When you know you should be studying but you click “next episode” anyway

When ABC Family starts 25 Days of Christmas

When you realize that pretty soon you’ll be getting presents

When you finish your research paper and realize you can’t cite Wikipedia

When you literally have no idea what’s going on

When you walk out of your last final

When your professor rounds your grade up to an A

When finals are over and everyone starts fleeing from State College

When you realize that you’re finally free for a whole month

Happy almost Holidays!
