My THON Sneaker Recommendations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

As any Penn Stater knows, THON is right around the corner. In order to best prepare for those long hours standing in the Bryce Jordan Center, you’re going to need the best sneakers.

The sneaker you decide on for the weekend can make or break your THON experience, so here is my guide stop picking the right one, in order from the most to least expensive (prices according to the official website).

ASICS Superblast – $200.00

Made for running, the ASICS Superblast is sure to support your feet throughout the weekend. The material makes the shoes very lightweight and bouncy, making it easier to be on your feet for so long.

On the ASICS website, it claims the sneakers are “ideal for supercharging mind and body” which is certainly important for the weekend.

New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v13 – $164.99

New Balance calls the 1080 “the best running shoe we make,” citing its versatility and foot cushioning. The mesh design makes the shoe breathable and the foam sole molds to your foot.

It was made for running, which means its design is made to support your foot for long periods of time.

On Cloud 5 – $139.99 – 149.99

According to the website this shoe is a “fan favorite” and comes in many different colors. They are breathable and stretchy, of which are both needed for the extended hours of standing and dancing at THON.

As a bonus, the shoes are fully weatherproof, so they can still be very useful after THON.

HOKA Clifton 8 – $111.99 – $140

The most popular sneakers on campus right now are definitely the HOKA Clifton 8 sneakers. Everyone is raving about these shoes as they wear them to the gym or to class. The sneakers come in so many different colors and options if you want to stay neutral or go colorful.

They are revered by many, but they’re also costly, so the choice is yours.

Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 – Big League – $95.00

If you’re looking for comfort over name brand, this is the shoe for you. The insoles are removable to make the sneaker more customizable in order to mold to your foot and increase weight dispersion.

Arch support is extremely important for walking around, which is such a great feature with the Arch Fit shoes.

Adidas Cloudfoam – $75.00

This is a more affordable option for your THON sneaker. They come in variations of white, black and gray with some colored details on some of the colorways.

The name perfectly describes the Adidas Cloudfoam, which is great for comfort and cushioning the soles of your feet.

Nike Tanjun Shoes – $70.00

These are the most popular sneakers that everyone seemed to have in middle school, which is why they are now such a classic. The shoe has a cushioned sole and are very airy and lightweight — it almost feels like there is nothing on your foot.

The Tanjuns are the cheapest and the most simple, but sometimes that is all you need.

Even if you don’t get the chance to order a new pair of shoes, try to wear your most comfortable pair so your feet don’t hurt after the Final Four on Sunday.
