Battle of the Brands: Who Has the Best Leggings?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

Like many women, I love a good pair of stylish, form-fitting leggings, but as a 5’3 short-legged girl, I struggle to find the “perfect pair.”

Some companies can make your pockets hurt, while other, cheaper brands, leave you with your underwear showing through your leggings. It’s been a bit of a struggle, but after many years of trial and error, I have a pretty good insight on which brands are worth the buy.

In this list, I will be taking pricing, comfort, and design into account.

Athleta- $89-98

While I do think Athleta is pricey, they do make one hell of a legging.

They use soft, sweat-wicking fabric that will keep you comfortable whether you are at the gym or just lounging.

They provide leggings for multiple activities such as running, yoga, or training. My only qualm with the brand is its lack of uniqueness when it comes to designs.

But if you are looking for basic leggings, they have great options. They also pass the squat test.

Gymshark- $25-65

Between Gymshark’s reasonable prices, comfortability, and leggings fit for any occasion, Gymshark is up there on my list of favorite leggings.

But, they are sadly made for people of a taller stature which is usually the case for most legging brands.

The fabric is great for the price and you will remain comfortable in them. Not to mention, their products are just cute. You will be getting a lot of compliments if you sport one of their sets.

Lululemon- $98-138

I had to add Lululemon.  I mean come on.  They have the best leggings when it comes to comfort.

The fabric blend they use is like no other company. They also provide so many styles and types of leggings for all activities.

Lululemon could have scored number 1 on my list if they weren’t so expensive.  But, the price makes sense when you take into account the overall quality of their leggings. And once again, they also pass the squat test.

Fabletics- $40-70 without a membership

Fabletics is unbeatable when it comes to their leggings designs and prints.

I also love how inclusive they are with sizing and every brand on this list should strive to reach people of all shapes, sizes, and heights. Fabletics also offers a convenient VIP membership that splits their product prices in half each month.

The only reason why they did not take number 1 is that some of the fabrics on their leggings can be uncomfortable for certain activities. Besides that, I love the brand and buy from them frequently.

Aerie- $15-60

Aerie rises above all of the other brands in almost every aspect. Their fabric is very similar to Lululemon for a fraction of the price, they have very cute and unique patterns and designs, and offer amazing products for any activity.

Not to mention, they have the most reasonable prices than any of the other brands on this list.

Just a warning, if you go to an Aerie store, you might spend all of your money because their stuff is just too cute. But hey, at least you would get your money’s worth.

I hope this list is helpful for your next shopping adventure. I get the struggle of not knowing how to spend your money wisely, so hopefully, my guidance was beneficial. Happy shopping!
