Name: Ariel Chavarria
Year: Junior
Major: Public Relations
Hometown: Sugar Land, Texas

This independent Southern girl is about to steal your heart. With a love for traveling and trying new things, Ariel lights up a room anywhere she goes by being secure in who she is and what she stands for. She isn’t afraid of being herself and lets the world know that, accent and all. But most of all, Ariel is a fun-loving, dependable person and a friend that anyone can count on.

?HC: I love being from Texas because…
Ariel: Well, it’s true, everything is better in Texas and everything is very laid back and everyone has southern hospitality.

??HC: Tell me about your internship
Ariel: I am a Marketing Associate for Penn State’s Intercollegiate Sports; specifically I participate in marketing and promotional plans for Penn State baseball. So far, I’ve helped coordinate and advocate Penn State’s Football Letterman’s Outing, aided with the preparation and regulation of the NCAA Softball Regionals that was hosted at Penn State and assisted in the development of Happy Volley Club Championships. ??

HC: Favorite lazy Sunday activity?
Ariel: Laying in bed and watching movies.

HC: Nicknames?
Ariel: Back home people called me Re Re or the little mermaid. At PSU many people call me Texas.

??HC: What is your dream job and why?
Ariel: My dream job would be to market for a NFL team. I’ve always grown up around football, especially being from Texas, where football is a big part of life.??

HC: Funniest thing a guy has ever done to get your attention?
Ariel: A guy actually got his friend at a bar to come up to me and be a jerk and hit on me so that then he could come up and step in and look like the true gentlemen. I can say that they are now two of my best friends.??

HC: My fashion style consists of…
Ariel: During the week it consists mainly of t-shirts and either Nike workout shorts or sweats. My weekend dress attire consists of different things from dresses, tank tops, jeans with flip flops, occasionally I’ll thrown in a cute pair of high heels and of course my cowboy boots.

HC: Any regrets?
Ariel: I can honestly say I have no regrets in my life, just life lessons. And I’m thankful for each one because I wouldn’t be who I am without them.??

HC: My best friend would describe me as…
Ariel: “One of a kind and very outgoing! If you want to meet a boy, don’t worry, Ariel has your back. She isn’t shy; we go to a party and this girl knows everyone at the party by the end of the night.  But what I love most about her is her dedication and drive to reach her dreams. She is the hardest working person I know.” – Her friend Alec

Born and raised by two Nittany Lions, Rachel continued the tradition by attending Penn State University in the fall of 2009. Currently a senior journalism major, Rachel also spends her time minoring in both psychology and Spanish. During her sophomore year she wrote for the Greek newspaper at Penn State as a member of Alpha Xi Delta, followed by joining the Her Campus team as a writer and the Public Relations/Social Media Manager in the fall of her junior year. In search of mastering the Spanish language, Rachel indulged herself in the country of Spain for five months while she studied abroad in the city of Alicante during the spring of 2012. In order to keep her English up to par, Rachel blogged about her experiences for both her personal account and Her Campus at Penn State. With a love for shoes, smiles, and a good bowl of mac and cheese, this social media fiend never leaves her twitter by its lonesome.
