Andrew McMahon Brought the #GreenBeans to Levels

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

Singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon performed at Levels Nightclub Wednesday night.

He started his music career around 2002 with his band Something Corporate, and in 2005, he did some work with Jack’s Mannequin. McMahon then started his solo career in 2012 and has been going on tours solo and with his band for the past two years.

The show started with sets from Schematic who has toured with Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate, then X Ambassadors pumped up the crowd when they performed their popular song “Unsteady.”

After the crowd danced away to some X Ambassadors, it was finally time for Andrew McMahon to come on stage.

He opened the set with “Dark Blue,” one of his hit songs from when he was with Jack’s Mannequin. He played other popular hits such as “I Woke Up in a Car” and “Synesthesia.”

Fans danced and sang to the music, and after a few songs, McMahon announced that he was going to play “Bruised” and explained meaning behind it. This is when McMahon inadvertently started his own hashtag. A fan screamed something that he interpreted as “#greenbeans.” As a result, this became the theme for the rest of the night.

The night ended with “Cecilia and the Satellite” and he even joined the crowd in an all-out dance party. He high fived his fans and even danced with them. This performance was definitely one for the books.
