Over the course of this week, you’ll see a lot of different people: people at work, at school, at the mall – pretty much wherever you go. You’re exposed to different personalities, styles, and even levels of ego. Although you do see some pretty crazy things, you can rest assured knowing you’ll also meet a lot of pretty awesome people. So, throughout my week of rush, I decided to make a list of a few of the most interesting types of girls out there:

1. The Crybaby

The crybaby is the girl who cries after she gets back her first rounds schedule. She’s upset she didn’t get asked back by her favorite top-tier sorority. She sits in the corner and continues to cry even more while people try to give her pep talks and convince her not to drop out.

2. The Drama Queen

This girl, unlike The Crybaby, throws massive b*tch fits after each round. She causes a scene when she gets called back to a lower tier sorority, and screams in excitement when she leaves her favorite one after each round. This type of girl rocked a Gucci belt on multiple occasions during my rush events.

3. The Snob

This girl is wearing everything designer. She complains about how tired she is the entire day. She gives her Pi Chi’s sass for the long lines, bad schedule, and lack of sleep. She also probably orders takeout in between events.

4. The Showoff

This is the girl you don’t want to get paired up with in your rounds. You’ll feel her make every event of her life a movie production. Her stories just seem too good to be true – probably because they are.

5. The Cool Girl

This girl just chills. She’s looking to meet more friends, be apart of something and have fun. She’s the one making friends in her group and holding conversations in line before parties. This is the girl that everyone loves.

6. The Party Animal

This gal loves to talk about partying. She tells everyone about the frats she goes to, the party she went to last night, and how excited she is to go to a sorority formal. You question whether this girl has the right intentions every single day.

7. The Friendly Girl

This girl is full of good vibes. It could be a girl in your Pi Chi group, an acquaintance, or even you. She plays it cool, says hi to everyone she knows, and always asks how other people’s parties are going. She dresses stylishly and comfortably, and all the sisters seem to love her.

8. The Know-It-All

Every time you ask a question, she has an answer. She claims to know the ins and outs of the recruitment process. She answers questions in the GroupMe for the Pi Chi’s and nobody ever really responds. She most likely ends up with a bid from her least-liked sorority.

9. You

This girl is you! She’s confident, calm, and ready to find her perfect fit within her school’s Greek life. She makes friends with whomever she meets, and she stays true to  herself throughout the course of the week in order to make sure she finds the right place for her. In the end, she’s happy in her new home.

Congratulations on your new families, collegiettes!

Jenna Silverblatt is a sophomore at Penn State. She is majoring in public relations with a minor in political science. She loves hanging out with her friends, listening to music, and taking lots pictures of her cat. She can usually be spotted with an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts in her hand.
Allie Maniglia served as the Campus Correspondent for Her Campus at Penn State from 2017-2018. She majored in public relations with minors in international studies and communication arts and sciences. If she's not busy writing away, you can find her planning her next adventure (probably back to the U.K.), feeding an unhealthy addiction to HGTV or watching dog videos on YouTube.
