The Halloween season is creepily approaching, and people are filling up their calendars with costume parties, haunted houses and horror movie marathons. However, if that’s not your cup of apple cider, we have curated a list of fall events that do not involve the Halloween spirit.
- Fall Festivals
-
Throughout the month of October, there are many fall events being hosted in State College. On Oct. 31, Harner Farms and Talleyrand Park will be hosting their annual fall festivals.
The Harner Farm Fall Festival has hosted its fall festival every Sunday throughout the month of October. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., you will be able to pick different kinds of produce, such as apples, pumpkins and gourds. Seasonal fall treats of apple cider donuts, apple fritters and apple cider will be provided to enjoy throughout the corn maze.
Date: Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: 2191 W Whitehall Rd, State College, Pa
The Talleyrand Fall Festival will be hosted at Talleyrand Park from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. The festival will host craft vendors and other fall activities.
Date: Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Talleyrand Park, W High St, Bellefonte, Pa
- Cookie Contest And Fall Movies
-
For a more chilled-out-at-home idea, you can host a cookie decorating contest and binge-watch fall movies. Find some fall recipes for pumpkin cinnamon cookies or a combination of chocolate chip and Pillsbury cookies on Pinterest and see who found the best recipe.
The most iconic movies to put on the fall movie bucket list are “Dead Poets Society,” “Little Women,” “Ghostbusters,” “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Back to the Future.” All of these movies have an autumn color palette or take place during the fall, which classifies them as perfect movies to watch with your friends and eat freshly baked cookies.
- Pumpkin And Pizza Party
-
A fun party idea to host is a Pumpkins and Pizza Party. Take the pumpkins that you picked from the pumpkin patch and carve them into cute fall decor that can light up your dorm or apartment. After all that pumpkin carving, look up a pizza recipe to make at home with your friends and shape them into cute personal pizza pumpkins or fall leaves.
- Fall Picnic
-
If you are going for a more laid-back and potluck gossip feel, host a fall picnic. The weather outside is perfect for wearing a cozy fall sweater and some UGG boots at a picnic. Gather around on the picnic blanket and catch up on each other’s weeks with some freshly toasted sandwiches, pumpkin soup and a nice apple pie topped with whipped cream and cinnamon sugar. The most perfect, effortless and wholesome idea for the fall.
- Painting Pumpkins While Binging On A Fall-Themed Candy Salad
-
After hitting the pumpkin patch at the fall festival, you can make a pit stop at your local grocery store and buy candies to make a fall-themed candy salad. Some candies for your fall candy salad can be pumpkin candy corn, caramel apple caramels, Nerds gummy clusters, Sour Patch Apple Harvest and many more. Then you can end the night by painting the pumpkins that you picked and displaying them as cute fall decor in your dorm or apartment.
Hope this can fill up your Halloween weekend!
