The 5 Best Places to Buy Career Clothes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

Shopping for work clothes can be difficult, to say the least. There’s so many stores out there and they all sell so many things. It’s also hard to decide if something is professional looking or if something is “too revealing” for a work environment. Well here are five places that sell great work clothes.

1) Old Navy

Price: $$

Old Navy is a great place to find basic items that will stay in your work wardrobe for a long time. They also have a wide range of sizes, including tall, plus, and petite, so you are sure to find items that fit you nicely. Go to Old Navy for pants and blouses because there’s always great options year-round.

2) LOFT

Price: $$$

Loft has many options for workwear at their store. They sell well-made dresses, shoes and jewelry so you can make great work outfits. The other great thing about Loft is that it’s targeted to women who are 20-30 so you won’t have to sift through slinky crop tops and short skirts.

3) H&M

Price: $

This place is a staple for any broke college student who needs workwear. H&M is famous for their staple items and low price tag. You’ll be able to find blazers, pants, dresses and practically everything you need for workwear here. As a bonus, downtown State College has a decent-sized H&M so you can try stuff on in person and see for yourself how their items look.

4) TARGET

Price: $$

Oh Target, everyone’s favorite store to buy stuff you never knew you needed. But did you know that Target has great professional clothes? They’ve got lots of options for dresses, skirts and blouses. Look at items from their line Who What Wear because that’s the more professional-looking side of their clothing. A New Day is another great option for workwear basics.

5) Kohls

Price: $$$

Workwear is a breeze to find at Kohls. Their women’s section is large and offers lots of professional clothing options. The juniors section also has a selection of career clothes but not as much as the women’s section. Kohls is a great place to get pants and blazers for work and most of the time those items are on sale. Their line Apt. 9 has great options for workwear and workwear basics.

Happy shopping collegiettes!
