Breaking Dawn Part 1: My Expectations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PS Berks chapter.

“Forever is only the beginning” is the saying on my Breaking Dawn t-shirt, the t-shirt I have been waiting two weeks to wear since I bought it at Hot Topic. I’m unconditionally and irrevocably in love with this entire series, having gone to every midnight showing, always wearing an appropriate t-shirt; usually a Team Edward shirt ;).

To say I’m excited to see part one of Breaking Dawn is probably most definitely an understatement. I read the book so long ago, but it ranks second when I put the books in order from my favorite to least favorite. I remember the book putting me on the edge of my seat, not wanting to put it down, getting antsy at the end of a chapter because all I wanted to do was flip the page and continue reading. I have a lot of expectations for this movie, since I felt like the movie for Eclipse didn’t do the book enough justice.

One thing I’m really interested to see is how they’re going to portray when Bella is giving birth while also being changed into a vampire. This process in the book was extremely detailed and so heart wrenching that I hope they spent an ample amount of time working on this scene.

However, I think the scene I’m most excited about, along with my fellow Twilight fans, is of course, the wedding scene! I melted about ten-plus times reading this part of the book, and I probably re-read it a few times too. I’m definitely a sucker for a love scene, and since this series doesn’t have many moments of pure bliss like this, I hope they make it as special and romantic as I imagined it to be.

And let’s be honest, we’re all intrigued by the sex scene that’s going to ensue between Bella and Edward when they first make love. We’ve all seen the commercial where he’s more or less breaking the headboard of the bed, and we have probably all went “OH MY GOD.” I know I did! Especially since he needs to control himself and not let go completely or he may actually harm Bella, so I will probably be sitting on the edge of my seat for this scene too!

And how could we forget about Jacob?! I may be Team Edward, but I love Taylor Lautner, and I find his acting to be spot on to how I imagine Jacob to be when I read the book. I can’t wait to see how he reacts when he finds out Bella is pregnant, because Taylor always has this intensity in his eyes that comes out in his dialogue, and boy is he sexy when he’s mad!

I have high expectations for this movie because the book really blew me away, and I hope the actors and actresses have risen to the challenge of the roles and brought their A game to this movie!

And a quote to leave all you crazed fans with:

“I opened my eyes and found his open, too, staring at my face. It made no sense when he looked at me that way. Like I was the prize rather than the outrageously lucky winner.”-Bella Swan, Breaking Dawn (Totally wishing I was her!)
