Tervis Tumbler Takeover

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PS Behrend chapter.

Early mornings and late nights at the library demand the perfect travel mug, right?

Caffeine addicts everywhere can unite with the colorful and iconic Tervis brand of insulated drinkware. Since 1946, the Tervis Tumbler Company has produced durable plastic cups and mugs from its Venice, Florida headquarters.

That’s right – made in the U S of A. You’ve probably spotted Tervises (Tervi?) from other students in class. Their see-through appearance make them hard to miss, as most insulated travel mugs are solid.

Two clear Tervis mugs with handles. Older styles often sport patches while later designs incorporate “wrap” artwork.

The clear double-wall innovation came from Detroit engineers Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis who discovered how to keep warm drinks warm and cold drinks cold through the sealed-plastic technique. In case you’re wondering, the brand Tervis comes from a conglomeration of the two last names: Cotter and Davis.

So what makes these travel mugs so different from those of the competition? The Tervis Company is not only American but also family-owned. It employs more than 900 people to make the popular cups. Yay!

Tervis tumblers work with both hot and cold beverages and will not sweat – otherwise known as that annoying phenomenon which simultaneously ruins coffee tables and enrages grandmothers everywhere. No need to buy separate ceramic travel mugs and plastic tumblers for separate beverages when one Tervis will take care of the job.

A colorful Tervis tumbler can help cheer up any dull assignment.

Have I mentioned how cute Tervises are? The Tervis line has worked with several brands such as Disney, NFL, Simply Southern, and more to offer trendy and iconic designs like characters and team logos as part of a cup’s design. Cups also come in colored shades and can be personalized with monograms as well.

A variety of sizes and customization make Tervis tumblers a great present for anyone. Newest additions to the product line include sippy cups and wine glasses (yasssss). My favorite are the sixteen-ounce tumblers, which are perfect for busy mornings.

What could be better than chevrons and Penn State? We are!

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! Tervis tumblers also come with a lifetime warranty. Should your cup have a defect in material or workmanship, the company will replace the product free of charge. Not too shabby if you ask me.

A growing collection of Tervis tumblers in both 16-ounce and 24-ounce sizes.

With qualities such as those, it makes sense why Tervis tumblers are officially taking over.

May your cup runneth over with your drink of choice. Cheers, Collegiettes!
