Cory Phillips was nominated for Campus Cutie of the week for his easygoing personality and charm.

Year: SeniorMajor: FinanceHometown: Baldwin, PAActivities: Finance Club, Alumni Task Force, ActingRelationship status: Taken

Her Campus: If you were to walk into a room, what song would be playing?Cory Phillips: “My songs would be ‘That’s Life’ and ‘New York New York’ by Frank Sinatra because I had a Karaoke night with family and when it was my turn, I chose Frank Sinatra. You can consider me a fan of him.”

Her Campus: What is something about you that your best friends don’t even know?Cory Phillips: “I typically don’t want to mess with anyone. I feel bad about joking with friends because I don’t want to come off as a jerk to them. There is a difference in joking and being a jerk and I don’t want to blur those lines.”

Her Campus: Name an activity you want to try and why?Cory Phillips: “I want to get back into acting, and pursue it once I am financially comfortable. Maybe I can pursue when I am around thirty five years old.”

Her Campus: So what made you decide on Finance for a major?Cory Philips: “I wasn’t sure about it initially. I originally went into college as a Mechanical Engineer, but soon found out that it didn’t fit my personality. I wanted to interact with people more. I found out that with a career in Finance, I could be an advisor, which means that I can work with people more. It also doesn’t hurt that the earning potential is very high!”

Her Campus: What is your favorite movie Wolf on Wall Street?Cory Phillips: “Wolf on Wall Street.”

Her Campus: Why are you so fascinated with Wolf on Wall Street?Cory Phillips: “I don’t agree with the things they did to people, the humor was good, but overall, it was motivational and inspirational. I think that is why it’s my favorite.”

Her Campus: Why did you choose to stay at Behrend and not transfer to University Park?Cory Phillips: “It was a forced decision. I was a little bummed at first, but looking back in retrospect, I am happy that I stayed. I love the size of the classrooms, having close contact with my professors and the actual size of the campus.”

Her Campus: What is the most embarrassing thing for a guy?Cory Phillips: “Sounding stupid in front of a girl or falling on your face with a girl. It stops guys from talking to a girl or initiating a conversation with a girl.”

Her Campus: On a first date, do you pay or do you have the girl pay? And why?Cory Philips: “The guy pays because that is how our culture was brought up to be. I want to be very respectful towards the girl. I want to say that I can take care of this and show my stability.”

Her Campus: Do you always feel obligated to pay for the meal during a date?Cory Phillips: “Yes, I haven’t been on many dates, but I will always feel that I should pay for the meal unless the girl says she wants to pay for it.”

Her Campus: What qualities do you look for in a girl?Cory Phillips: “I look for appearance, personality, and intelligence. Appearance is important but it’s not solely important. You can’t base a relationship off looks but at the same time you need that attraction. Personality is important because we need to have similar personalities. The girl needs to match my personal beliefs. Intelligence is important because it is always nice to have someone who is smart and driven.”

Her Campus: What is your ideal date in Erie?Cory Phillips: “Dinner at Longhorn at 2:30 and then we will go to Presque Isle to catch a ball or something. After that, we will go to the watch tower and watch the sunset. Finally, we would come back to my apartment and watch a movie.”

Her Campus: How do you feel about being nominated for this week’s Campus Cutie?Cory Phillips: “It’s a good feeling.  I am honored in a way.  I am never into being egotistical.  It is nice to be recognized in some way. It made me feel pumped.”
