8 Struggles Of Essay Writing As Told By Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PS Behrend chapter.

It’s that time of the semester again… essay time. Sure they aren’t coming at you left and right just yet, but before you know it, they will be, and you’re bound to end up feeling overwhelmed. Whether you actually wait for the last minute or get start right away, there is a 100% chance that you have understood a few of these struggles, if not all of them, at one point or another during your collegiate days. We’ll be there for you (during this struggle) ‘cause you’re there for us too!

1. Procrastinating.

We see you sitting in front of your computer with your phone in hand, seven profiles deep into Instagram… trust us, your best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend’s current boss is not going to help you get that paper done. FOCUS.

2. You daydream about being a kid again.

You never had to write a 10 page paper on fracking when you were five. As long as you colored in the lines and could write a three to five word sentence about what the cat did, you were basically a genius. Don’t you miss it?

3. Finally starting… but not quite.

Your topic seemed so much better when you picked it, but now that it’s time to come up with a catchy intro… it’s just too hard!

4. Envisioning your future.

We know that you want to keep everything 100, and this paper is no different. We believe in you, Collegiettes and know you’ll take the world by storm no matter what you do! You just have to knock this paper out of the park first…

5. Re-reading the syllabus only to find out that it’s ten pages rather than seven.

You’re one page deep, which is always the best time to check in on the requirements that you thought you had memorized. Double-spaced papers save lives… that’s all we’re saying

6. Editing…

Your exhaustion showed up in paragraph six… some of those words aren’t actually words at all. Try again.

7. Handing your paper in just in time.

You thought you wouldn’t make it, but you got it in just before dropbox closed… you’re basically the queen of the universe, and you definitely deserve it!

8. Celebration nap.

There is no better nap than the nap you take after you’ve handed in a paper that has been consuming your life for the past 12 hours. Enjoy every bit of those zzz’s, you worked hard for that! Keep up the good work, Collegiette! HCXO
