Tumblr is the secret confidant of Collegiettes everywhere. It isn’t only a super confusing website made only to share cat pictures, but it can be used to share prophetic quotes or even learn important news tidbits. Anyone can have a Tumblr, whether they are your stereotypical hipster blogger, a sorority girl, or even the basketball player who lives in the room next to you. There are so many reasons to have a Tumblr, and here are the best 10:

Reason #1:

Where else can you go to mindlessly search through pictures on the internet?

When you can’t handle the stressors of life, where else can you turn to mindlessly scroll through pages of gifs and images to momentarily forget your problems? Forget about that upcoming accounting test for the next 15, 20, 75 minutes and explore the depths of your news feed. Unabashedly stare at that picture of that cat inside of a vase, and try to figure out your life’s problems through Paulo Coelho quotes.

Reason #2:

It can be a place just for you, where you can only follow blogs that you want based on content. You don’t have to follow or be followed by anyone you know personally, so if you want, it can turn into a world you create all on your own.

Reason #3:

It can be a place to write your monologues that run through your head all day. You can put down your life’s worries about that boy who you’ve liked for two year now, the confusion you feel about life, or even just your miscellaneous daily thoughts. Now, your followers might not want to hear it all, but hey, they can always stop following you.

Reason #4:

Where else can you get the latest gossip on your favorite band? Or follow the 2016 election step by step from multiple perspectives all on one website. It can be a great and quick source of information for things you are interested in, especially when the blogs you follow like the same things.

Reason #5:

It is a great place to find the latest fashion trends as well! You can see girls of all shapes and sizes modeling the latest trends and the most modern hairstyles. It is especially helpful when you are “ballin’ on a budget,” it can help teach you how to dig through those vintage thrift shops for cute finds.

Reason #6:

Tumblr can have some of the best makeup finds. If you have ever wondered where is the best place to learn how to do winged eyeliner, why not search the place who’s users wear it the most? Not only can you look up how to wear eyeliner, but also eye shadow hacks and the latest lipstick shades.

Reason #7:

Tons of celebrities have them so you might be able to follow your favorite actor, actress, blogger or even singer. Go check out John Mayer’s tumblr (jhnmyr).

Reason #8:

It can connect you with people who have similar interests and things in common, and through that, you can make some online friends. I know I have personally made some really cool friends online and even have some friends who have met their best friends on there.

Reason #9:

Tumblr is a great place for foodies to bum around. There are TONS of different recipes of all flavors and from all over the world, not to mention the mouth-watering pictures.

Reason #10:

There are also tons of blogs with motivational tips if you are trying to get into a healthier lifestyle. So if you are lacking some motivation, it is a great website to blog and reblog things relating to your fitness.

Tumblr is a great website to express yourself and cultivate who you are. So go create that account and jump on the blogging circuit!
