Taylor Swift is no longer the typical girl next door turned superstar. Midnights, her most recent album, further demonstrates Swift’s evolution from teenage star to feminist icon. The album is full of eloquent, witty lyrics that will bring about your inner girl boss.

  1. Lavender Haze: “All they keep asking me (All they keep asking me) / Is if I’m gonna be your bride / The only kinda girl they see (Only kinda girl they see) / Is a one-night or a wife”

Instead of focusing on pleasure, people need to develop healthy relationships that will endure challenges. Honestly, why can’t society see women as more than a piece in the dating game?

  1. Vigilante Shit: “Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man / You did some bad things, but I’m the worst of them”

No one should be fooled by a cat eye’s beauty. Women can appear feminine while being a girl boss.

  1. Midnight Rain: “He wanted a bride, I was making my own name / Chasing that fame, he stayed the same”

A woman should not be defined by one role. Marriage should be one component of life, not the whole story.

  1. Vigilante Shit: “I don’t dress for women / I don’t dress for men / Lately, I’ve been dressin’ for revenge”

Princess Diana’s revenge dress is proof; the best revenge is to look fabulous.

  1. Mastermind: “You see, all the wisеst women / Had to do it this way / ‘Cause we were born to be the pawn / In every lover’s game”

Taylor highlights important societal barriers women face throughout life. Success and happiness require careful planning because women are expected to defer to the men in their lives.

  1. Vigilante Shit: “Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife / And she looks so pretty / Drivin’ in your Benz”

Taylor takes her classic break-up song elements while adding a girl boss edge.

  1. Bejeweled: “Best believe I’m still bejeweled / When I walk in the room / I can still make the whole place shimmer (Shimmer)”

No matter what happens, you are always a diamond. Own your inner sparkle.

  1. Karma: “’Cause karma is my boyfriend / Karma is a god / Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend / Karma’s a relaxing thought / Aren’t you envious that for you it’s not? / Sweet like honey, karma is a cat / Purring in my lap ’cause it loves me / Flexing like a goddamn acrobat / Me and karma vibe like that”

Karma is the perfect match for any girl boss.

  1. Mastermind: “What if I told you none of it was accidental? / And the first night that you saw me / Nothing was gonna stop me / I laid the groundwork, and then / Just like clockwork / The dominoes cascaded in a line / What if I told you I’m a mastermind? / And now you’re mine / It was all by dеsign / ‘Cause I’m a mastermind”

Blair Waldorf would be proud. A girl boss always gets what she wants through careful statecraft.

  1. Anti-Hero: “It’s me. Hi. I’m the problem, it’s me.”

Enough said.
