For the majority of our lives we have been told that it is wrong for boys to wear makeup, but it is perfectly fine for girls. But two well know beauty gurus and social influencers are taking the makeup industry by storm with their wonderful talent for makeup and beauty! They are creating openness and equality in the beauty community. These two influencers are Manny Gutierrez and James Charles. Manny is now the first male spokes model for Maybelline while James Charles is the first male ambassador for Covergirl, now being called Coverboy! Both artists have been widely accepted in the beauty community and industry.

Manny has stated on his Instagram that, “2017 you are off to an AMAZING START OMG! So excited to finally announce that I am part of the Maybelline Big Shot Mascara campaign! Honestly I couldn’t be more honored [and] thrilled! Thank you to Maybelline for taking a chance on me! I look forward to working together so much more!” Manny can now be seen in the new commercial for Maybelline’s new mascara! The beauty community has been non-stop talking about how proud they are of Manny’s accomplishments and how much recognition he is receiving because he deserves it!
James Charles has stated on his Instagram “I started my Instagram one year ago to inspire others and as an artistic outlet to challenge myself creatively. I truly hope that this shows that anyone can do anything if you work hard.” James Charles has now been featured in numerous Covergirl commercials and even went on the Ellen Degeneres show! Can you imagine being 17 years old and being the brand new face of Covergirl?!

Although Manny and James are both well-known they are not the only boys who are slaying the makeup game, for example Jeffree Star, Mario Dedivanivc (Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist), Angel Marino, Ariel Tejada (Kylie Jenner’s makeup artist), Patrickstarrr, and many more have gained a huge following on social media! More and more boys are feeling accepted into the beauty community because these makeup artists took the first step in show casing their makeup, not only on themselves but also others. As we are moving towards the future we can see how many more guys are involved in the beauty world and are not afraid to show it! It is now becoming the norm for society to see boys in makeup, fashion, and hair.
