Makeup Products That Make Emotional Every Time I Use Them

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Providence chapter.

I am a full blown makeup addict. This is what I look like in Sephora, I just grab EVERYTHING.

Over the past few years, I have accumulated an absurd amount of makeup, and yet I have NO regrets. Do I need 5 different red lipsticks or 3 different primers? No, I don’t, but I will keep buying more! SO when I say I love a product or that it is one of my holy grails, you know that I mean business. Without further ado, here are a few of my absolute favorite makeup products that make me a tiny bit emotional each time I put them on my face because of how WONDERFUL they are.

1. Glossier Boy Brow

This is the eyebrow gel of the GODS. I never knew that it was possible for eyebrows to be made more voluminous before using Boy Brow, but now that I know I can never go back. This bestseller comes in clear, blonde, black, and brown, and will make even the sparsest of brows look full and stay in place all day.

2. Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb

For much of my makeup “career,” I was wholly against the idea of glossy lips. For a long time I wanted my lips to be long wearing and matte, I never understood the appeal of a shiny mouth that your hair constantly gets caught in. Enter Miss Robyn Rihanna Fenty, who decided to change my world by releasing this lip gloss. Not only does this stuff smell delicious and look great on every skin tone, it makes lips look juicy and full without being overly sticky. I’ve yet to try another gloss that comes even close to this one. Get Gloss Bomb here

3) Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

I held off on purchasing this one for quite a while. I had tried many other high rated powders before, hated all of them, and was nervous to buy such an expensive one after such little success. But from the first time I used this powder, I knew things were different. This powder sets concealer under the eyes like a DREAM and melts right into the skin, never looking dry or cakey. I think my friend put it best as we were getting ready for Lollapalooza last summer and she said “Laura Mercier, I would give you my first born child for this powder.”

4) Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

I first got this lipstick as a free birthday mini from Sephora a few years back. I fell in love almost instantly, thus beginning my obsession with lipstick. At $30 it is a bit of a steep price, so I rationed my baby size until my sister gifted me the full size for Christmas. It is a beautiful rosy shade that goes on smooth and opaque, and lasts for a surprisingly long time considering it isn’t a liquid lip.

5) Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Lunch Money

Highlighter is something that brings me great joy in life. To quote makeup royalty John Maclean, I like to glow “beyond the gods.” Colourpop’s Super Shock products are almost like a putty, but look like powder when applied and blended out. This highlighter is long wearing, a BEAUTIFUL shade, and somehow manages to attract light right to wherever you apply it. For just $8, Colourpop created an affordable highlight rivaling those more than double its price. I’ll let this picture of me wearing Lunch Money and trying to make my friend love me speak for itself. THE GLOW!!!
