Abby’s Top 10 Fall Fashion Must-Haves!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Providence chapter.

Even though it’s *just* starting to feel like fall, we can still start dreaming about our super cozy October outfits! Here are just a few things that I heavily recommend finding before the season continues.

1 ) Jumpsuits for days!

Honestly,  y’all. It’s getting cold out, but you still want to look amazing! Jumpsuits will take you from work to nighttime in a heartbeat; check out Lulu’s for some adorable (and affordable) options!

2) Button downs, babe!

What a staple. Honestly, I have no less than six button downs in my closet. You can tuck them into a skirt, jeans or leggings, roll up the sleeves and look like your life is entirely put together. Head over to J Crew- honestly, the QUEEN of business casual- to find them!

3) Leggings- because life is hard and they’re comfortable.

They got a little shout out in #3, but leggings are life. (If you want to have the argument about whether or not they’re pants- they are). Of course, LuLulemon has some magical pairs, but (FUN FACT- I just learned this over the summer) : so does Vineyard Vines!

4)  Flats- lots of them.

It’s not the kind of weather where you step outside all bundled, yet by the time you walk to the next building, your nose is an icicle. TAKE ADVANTAGE! Flats are adorable with leggings, jeans or a fun dress. General PSA: if you wear nude flats, they make your legs look longer. Sam Edelman has tons of fun pairs that y’all need to get your hands on!

5) It’s boot season!

…But when it does get cold, there is nothing that screams “look at me” than leggings tucked into a killer pair of over the knee boots. Plus, a little heel height never killed anyone! (Especially for girls like me, who are only 5’1”- in which case, I live for my heels).

6) Big scarves

Nothing says “I’m super put together” than throwing an oversize scarf (preferably plaid) over your equally-as-big sweater! Tie them all around your shoulders, or wear them as a fun cape and you’re super warm (and looking adorable).

7)  One hell of a leather jacket

You know the saying; sugar and spice and everything nice! Well, whoever thought of that never wore a killer leather jacket. Not only does it look incredible with jeans and boots, but it makes casual dresses look more formal in a heartbeat.

8) Urban Decay’s Naked Heat Palette

Okay sure- this article was meant to be for fashion; but I have such a soft spot for makeup. Urban Decay has done it again ladies; and I’m obsessed. Use the funky red hues underneath your killer winged eyeliner, and you’ll look like you stepped right out of INStyle.

9) Pointed toe pumps- any color

I already said it but I’ll say it again- I’m only 5’1”, and I can use all the height I can get. I’m also a pageant girl- and am still one of the shortest ones (in six inch heels); but we all know it’s impossible to wear those on a regular basis. That’s where these bad boys come in; they scream business-casual, and you can get them in any color, any pattern. Check out Call it Spring in Providence Place Mall, or online for super cute and affordable options!

10) Vests!

Full disclaimer: I love vests, they are my favorite thing ever. While Rhode Island’s is still in awkward weather limbo where it’s not super warm, but not freezing cold yet, TAKE ADVANTAGE of the ability to wear vests! Fun fact; MarleyLilly has seriously adorable ones that you can monogram!

And that’s all the top 10 staples I have for your fall closet! Best of luck, and happy shopping!
