As fun as dating can be, it can really tighten up those purse strings. As broke college students, we can’t afford to go to a weekly dinner at the Cheesecake Factory no matter how delicious that Oreo Chocolate Dreamcake may be. Even if bae always picks up the check, making it a little easier on him couldn’t hurt!

1. The Abbey on a Monday

Every Monday The Abbey has their signature $5 burger special. Their burgers are delectable and their fries are heavenly. Thankfully, The Abbey doesn’t even skimp out on portion sizes for this special either!

2. Movies on a Tuesday

The Providence Showcase Cinema has “Bargain Tuesdays” every week where you can see a movie for $8.50! If you bring a purse of stuff your pockets with some tasty snacks, this can be the perfect way to have a date on a budget. Just make sure you get your homework done!

3. RISD Museum

For the cultured couple, this is a great date idea. Many of my more artistic friends have said that this is their favorite museum. The best part about it is that if you email them at member@risd.edu and explain that you’re a student at Providence College, you can get a membership for FREE!

4. Cliff Walk in Newport

The weather is finally beginning to get nicer and more importantly, warmer. The famous Newport Cliff Walk would be a great place to go with your bae. You could even pack some food and have a picnic. It’s a great opportunity to see some gorgeous views and have intimate conversation. If you don’t have a car on campus, it is accessible via the RIPTA.

5. Westminster Stroll

Westminster Street is a great place to go on a date! If you go at night, there are string lights strung up above the street giving it a romantic feel. There are plenty of cute shops that you can poke around in that would appeal to you as well as bae. My personal favorite shop is HOMESTYLE. In case you get hungry, there are also plenty of little eateries around that won’t break the bank.
