Clothing and shoes go hand in hand. We’ve all been there, collegiettes™: that moment when you find the perfect dress for lawnparties or house parties but the moment is ruined by the sickening realization that you have no shoes to match. Of course you continue to shop—as a non-shopper, this is the moment where I give up on the search and decide to re-wear one of my dresses—only to find that black pumps are not going to do your dress justice. After all, you aren’t a simple girl. Why should you wear simple shoes? That is the question that Maryetta Finkley asks. She offers the alternative: Ms. MaryMac shoes.

“Ms. MaryMac puts the “Lover” back in “Shoe Lover”. These shoes embody individuality and free-spiritedness that is expressed though the many colors, textures, patterns, and materials used in each hand-designed shoe.

A shoe lover’s love is as loyal as any other love, and Ms. MaryMac’s have been designed for those that dare to be rare. With over 100 different styles of shoes and counting we plan to make a bold statement with what we have to offer the world.
With one of a kind shoes available and others that you will only find 3 pairs of EVER, who can argue with what we call our “MAC” factor! Each shoe comes with its own personal name, some times named after its recipient. The signature bows and ribbons bring a sense of girliness to the shoes, appealing to a woman of any age.”

In short, these shoes are perfect for any collegiette™. Admirers of the bold vibrancy of Ms. MaryMac shoes, we’ve interviewed Maryetta about her gorgeous and fun shoe line. Please note, collegiettes™, that these shoes are not for the faint of heart; if you aren’t a high heel junkie, then MMM is most likely not for you!

Her Campus Princeton: How did Ms. MaryMac get started?
Maryetta Finkley: Ms. MaryMac originally started back in 2009 when I finally decided to give my shoes a name. I been doing shoes for about 9 yrs at the time, but it was just a hobby I did here and there for myself and close friends. When I did a 10 month internship (unpaid) while getting my Masters in Counseling Studies I got the idea to try and sell a few pairs just to see if i could and I did. When I graduated and got a job in my field, I was really unfulfilled and searching for something so I decide to quit my job and try to start my own shoe line since I loved shoes and loved designing them.

HCP: What pair of Ms. MaryMac shoes are your personal favorite?
MF: It’s so hard to pick just one. Three pairs that I’ve made stick out in my mind the most, but if I had to just pick a pair I would have to say Carrie. I was so proud of myself when I made that one.

HCP: What pair of shoes is perfect for any Princeton collegiette’s closet?
MF:I would have to say Faith. To me, it is a very classic but sexy shoe. The colors are very soft, but it can spice up any wardrobe and go with a lot of stuff.

HCP: What niche does Ms. MaryMac fill in the shoe world?
MF: I think we fill a lot of niches actually. We use a lot of bold and vibrant colors no matter the season. We don’t always follow the trends we try and set them. We allow our women and even young girls the ability to create a shoe that embodies them or goes with a certain outfit, whatever they want. We are an outlet for the true shoe lover.
