Underwear That Thinx

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Have you ever had an embarrassing moment when it’s your “time of the month” or when “great aunt flow decided to show up a day early, or even later than you expected?” Have you bled through underwear and onto a beautiful dress, or even worse, a white skirt or pair of jeans? While some of us might be fortunate enough not to have had these traumatizing experiences, for those of us that have, we will certainly appreciate the new, technologically improved underwear called Thinx.

A group of three women traveled around the world and researched the undergarments industry for three years! The fruits of their labor: a moisture wicking, leak resistant, stain resistant, anti-microbial, breathable, durable and comfortable new underwear that offers coverage and support no matter where you are in life. If you are an active woman or simply forget your time, you shouldn’t have to worry about Mother Nature showing you who’s boss because YOU ARE!

So, why should you try this new underwear? It feels good to be in control of your body. It feels good to have protection, coverage and comfort down below. But, above all else, it feels good to help someone out. The best news about these new underwear, you ask? For every pair we purchase, 7 Afripads are sent to a woman in need. But even better, they are training women on how to make these pads which is empowering them and providing them with the opportunity to have an income, go to school and feel strong. Just imagine having to use sticks, mud, leaves or dirty rags to take of your own bloody business. That is what girls some girls in Africa need to do—but even worse, they miss the entire week of school because it is their “Week of Shame.” This forces them to fall behind and could lead to them dropping out and never finishing school. Let’s help reverse that cycle and join this win-win movement! Purchase a pair of underwear that Thinx about you and the world!
