Outfit Ideas for Dance of the Decades

This Saturday, Feb. 25th is UP’s annual Dance of the Decades! It’s a magical night of dancing at the beautiful Crystal Ballroom. And tickets only cost $10. Another essential part of the Dance of the Decades experience is dressing up. So for all of us broke college students, here are some costume ideas for the dance that won’t break the bank!

1. The 1920’s

What you’ll need:

  • A lacy or sequin-y dress
  • A decorative headband
  • Fishnet tights

2. The 1950’s

What you’ll need:

  • Converse
  • Leather jacket (optional or borrow a friends!)
  • Black top
  • Pink skirt OR black skinny jeans

3. The 1960’s 

What you’ll need:

  • Long skirt
  • Flip flops
  • Floral top
  • Funky sunglasses

4. The 1970’s

What you’ll need:

  • Bell sleeve dress
  • Boots
  • Straigthened hair

5. The 1980’s

What you’ll need:

  • Athletic headband
  • Your favorite jersey or a bright neon workout top
  • Short shorts or spandex shorts
  • Sneakers
  • Long white socks

6. The 1990’s

What you’ll need:

  • Overalls or high waisted anything
  • Chunky heels or platformed shoes
  • Choker
  • Dark lipstick

7. The 2000’s

What you’ll need:

  • Body glitter
  • Velvet zip up hoodie
  • Uggs
  • Black leggings
  • Jean skirt
