Best UP Memories: Some of my favorite memories come from studying abroad in Salzburg, Austria. A specific memory that stands out was my first weekend trip with my good friends Bethany and John. We had just been to Oktoberfest and hopped on a train to go to Füssen, Germany to see Neuschwanstein, the castle that Cinderella’s palace was modeled after. We had decided that instead of booking a hostel, we would get there late at night and just hang out. I don’t know what we were thinking! We ended up sleeping on a park bench and in a parking garage. After an insufficient amount of sleep and being mistaken a few times as homeless, we finally made it to the beautiful castle and had a great time. I definitely learned some life lessons like always book a hostel and that my friends are pretty cool.
One UP Bucket list item: I’ve always wanted to climb that big tree in the courtyard by the Pilot House. It’s a prime spot for people watching.
Favorite TV Show: Gilmore Girls…it’s a classic!

Why UP? I had a gut feeling that I should be in Portland and after visiting UP, I fell in love with the sense of community.
What are your future plans after you graduate? I plan to teach English in Germany for a year and then come back and work for a cultural exchange organization as a public relations director. I love culture!
