You spent the year in Salzburg. Tell me about your favorite places there.
My favorite place is probably Dublin. Or room 12. John and Austin’s room haha. I like Dublin a lot. The people, the accents (especially the accents), the pubs, and all the live music. So much fun. It was really touristy, but not in a bad way. They LOVE Americans. It’s just such a welcoming city. It’s like going to your Grandma’s house, they’re just so nice. You really feel accepted.
Would you ever live aboard again?
Probably not. I like my dog. I like my mom. And I like English.
What was your biggest surprise when you became an RA?
I absolutely did not expect that I would have such a bond with them. I love being there for them, and to support them. I didn’t think I would become such good friends and that I would care so much for them. I love watching them learn and experience freshmen year. I had such an awesome year and I want them to have the same. Also, the staff here have really grown to become my second family. We love working with each other and how we all get along is just awesome! Just having that extra support system is really nice and makes me love the job.
What is the biggest piece of advice you offer your freshmen residents?
I would say to get involved and making that extra effort to meet people and make new friend. It can be really difficult and nerve-raking. If you get involved, you’re bound to make friends. It’s cheesy advice but it’s so true. Also, get the turkey pesto panini everyday and the rest of your days will be filled with joy and happiness. Stay involved and push yourself outside your comfort zone!
What’s your best memory from UP?
We used to eat breakfast at the “Jesus tables” together. Friends from orientation, future Salzburg-ers, friends from the dorm. I just remember those times because it was simple and fun and the people your meet here are with you for life. I have the greatest friends!
