Meet Jesse Proctor ’14!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Name: Jesse Proctor

Year: Junior

Hometown: Bonney Lake, Washington

So you’re a nurse, and can I brag a little for you, a Providence Scholar; what do you enjoy most about nursing?

With nursing, I just really enjoy the ability to work on my feet and with people in general, but helping people with healing is just a whole other story. It’s great building connections and caring for people who are vulnerable.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hmmm… Five years, I’ll maybe still be in Portland working as a nurse, maybe with a cool bachelor pad downtown or something.

Craziest memory you have while in college, GO!

The most appropriate answer would probably be my summer studying abroad in Segovia, Spain and London. I’ll never forget all my time over there, it was amazing and I keep telling myself I’ll go back one day. There were also some pretty fun birthday parties my friends threw me and I live with my best friends so everyday is pretty entertaining.

What do you wish to do before you graduate? Something on your college bucket list?

That’s funny! I actually do have a bucket list for before I graduate. I hope to go skydiving sometime soon. I think I’d like that. I also am going to make myself swim in the Howard Hall pool at least once.

Best thing in your life right, besides being nominated for Campus Cutie?

Wow that’s a big one! I guess I’m feelin’ pretty good right now, school is going well, my friends keep me going everyday, summer just around the corner, going to be an uncle soon! Life is as good as can be for now, no complaints!

I like places. I like people. I like stories; every place, and every person has a story. I want to write as many stories about that place and those people until the stories run dry. Which is...never. So I will continue to write. Please, tell me a story.
Hailing from eastern Washington, Julia attends the University of Portland in Oregon, as a Communication Studies major with an emphasis on Journalism. As a magazine and book junkie, Julia reads everything (and anything) she can get her hands on, especially those passionate on young adult culture and entertainment. A woman that gets stir-crazy easily, Julia has been fortunate to have traveled many summers in a row to foreign countries, including a study abroad course in Austria, Germany, and Great Britain. Since a ripe age, she has grown and cultivated her passion and dream of working for a magazine and spreading awareness as well as happiness through the tips of her fingers. Always finding time for herself, Julia can frequently be found quoting movie lines (most frequently Will Ferrell or Vince Vaughn), having a 90's dance party with her roommates, or rereading "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" for the 40th time.
