Beautiful is one who is happy with who they are and is dedicated to spreading their confidence and knowledge to empower others.

We’re celebrating beauty in a new way. When Britta and Irene, two UP students, were talking about Miss World they had an idea: what if there was a new type of celebration of beauty? Why not a beauty pageant that celebrates real, beautiful women doing inspiring things? That’s when the idea of the BeYOU-ty Pageant emerged.

Join us Thursday April 9th from 6:30-8 PM in Shiley 301 as we hear from women making a real difference.  The panel will include four women doing incredible things in their communities to empower women and redefine beauty.

Danielle Knott the Executive Director of Render: Feminist Food & Culture Quarterly and 2014 UP alum will discuss how this food magazine is transforming the way we see women in the kitchen. Lynn Lee, founder of Society Nine and also a UP alum, will discuss her brand, an MMA and boxing brand for women. Brandy Machado, Operations and Communications Director of Skate Like a Girl Portland, will discuss her nonprofit that empowers girls through skateboarding. Cheryl Green is the media artist and creator of StoryMinders, a company that focuses on disability identity and accessible content.

LUNA bars will be on hand and we’ll have a Her Campus booth at the event, too! If you’ve ever been interested in learning more about Her Campus and how you can get involved, now is your chance!

Come as these women display how beauty is purpose. Don’t miss out on this free event! You can RSVP via Eventbrite or Facebook!
