Name: Carly Bruce

Year/Major: Freshman, Criminal Justice major.

Number of tattoos: 9

HC: You have a lot of tattoos. Which one did you get first?

Carly:  “My first tattoo was the heart with wings on my wrist.  I got it done at a place called Accents in Ink in Castle Shannon, PA. The artist was Bob, but I can’t remember his last name.”

HC:  Which of your tattoos is your favorite? What does it mean to you?

Carly: “My favorite tattoos would have to be my arm piece. A Day to Remember is my favorite band, and this piece incorporates their different album artwork as well as lyrics. In total, it cost about $275 total. I got it done by Papa Dame at V One Tattoo Studio.  In addition to my arm piece, he also did everything but the microphone on my chest.  Both of those cost $150 a piece. I also really love my ghost balls tattoo because it’s funny.”

HC: Where did you get your other tattoos?

Carly: “I got the microphone and ghost balls done at the Steel City Tattoo Convention. That was really fun to go to. I got the ghost balls tattoo for free with the microphone (which was $60).”

HC: Which tattoo would you say hurt the most?

Carly: “The Theater Masks. On a scale of 1-10 they were probably a 6.”

HC: Do you have plans for more tattoos?

Carly: “Of course.  I would like to eventually finish my arm among other things.”

Name: Chaise Schrecengost

Year/Major: Freshman, Broadcast Reporting major

Number of tattoos: 2

HC: Explain your tattoos. What do they mean to you?

Chaise:  “My first tattoo is what’s supposed to be a lightning bolt on my finger.  My friend did it for me, it was sort of an impulse decision. The Cheshire Cat tattoo on my wrist is my favorite. Alice in Wonderland is my favorite movie and the Cheshire Cat is my favorite character. I got it done by Chris at Needles of Fury Tattoo in Natrona Heights, PA.  It cost about $60, including the tip.”

HC:  Which tattoo hurt the most?

Chaise: “Neither of them really hurt. But if I had to pick, it would have to be my wrist.”

HC: Do you have plans to get more tattoos?

Chaise:  “Of course! I would love to get more tattoos once I’m not poor.”

Name: Vince Naglic

Year/Major: Senior, Funeral Services Major

Number of tattoos: 2

HC: Explain your tattoos. What do they mean to you?

Vince:  “The numbers on my arm are from my favorite movie ever, Donnie Darko. It’s when the world is ‘supposed to end’ in the movie. To me it represents how quickly time can run out, how nothing lasts forever. The lyrics on my wrist are from the song ‘Swim’ by Jack’s Mannequin. I feel like the lyrics explain themselves.  I got them both done at Evolver Tattoo Arts in South side. My wrist was done by my friend Lorelei who was an apprentice there, and her boss Cantu did my arm.”

HC:  Which tattoo hurt the most?

Vince: “Neither of them hurt really badly. About a 4 on a scale of 1-10.”

HC: Do you have plans to get more tattoos?

Vince:  “Oh yeah!”
