The Carnegie Museum of Art in North Oakland is currently hosting an exhibit featuring the work of Pittsburgh native photographer, Duane Michals. Michals was born and raised in the ‘Burgh west end neighborhood of McKee’s Rocks. He was a poineer of modern photography as he “when he broke away from established traditions of documentary and fine art photography.”

The Syncronicity by The Police album art was created by Duane Michals. There were upwards of thirty versions of the art released, and the CMOA is currently missing seven different versions.

The exhibit had several of Michal’s quotes hanging from the ceiling on opaque glass.

The Paradise Regained, 1968, contact sheet is blown up and hangs from the ceiling along side Michals’ famous Andy Warhol street.
