We’ve all been there, scrolling through Pinterest or Instagram daydreaming about what we would look like with a cute bob. So what do you do when you just can’t quite scratch that itch of wanting to chop off all your hair? Here are a few tips to make sure that your new do looks super cute should you decide to take the plunge and get the “big chop”.

Know Your Face Shape

Have you ever gotten a hair cut that looked so cute on someone else, but just doesn’t work for you? A lot of people can find themselves in this situation when getting a shorter cut. A good way to avoid this is to know your face shape, as different shapes can affect the look of a hair cut or style. Face shapes tend to fall into a range of round, oval, square, or triangular shaped. A great way to figure out what your face shape is is to take a selfie with your hair pulled back and compare the image to examples of each shape. Once you know your face shape, you can then refine your search for a fun, short hair style by searching images of “short hair for (Insert face shape here)”. This will ensure that once you’ve found a cut or style you love that it will look just as cute on you as any Instagram model!

Help Your Stylist Help You!

Cutting your hair can be a drastic change depending on how long your hair is now, which can make it very nerveracking to put your faith and trust in someone that’s about to chop all your hair off. But don’t fear! A great way to settle those nerves and help your stylist ensure you’re happy with the end product is to bring reference pictures! Find some pictures on Instagram or Pinterest that capture the cut or look you’re going for and show them to your stylist during your consultation. This way, the stylist can have a strong idea of what you want and ensure that the “big chop” brings you nothing but happiness!

Remember, It’s Just Hair!

At the end of the day, remember that it’s just hair! So don’t let fear of what others might think or how it might look stop you from doing something that will make you happy! If it doesn’t quite go the way you want, it will always grow back, and most importantly, you are beautiful no matter what your hair looks like! So be inspired, go for that bold bob, and show Instagram how it’s done!
