Prepare to Feel All the Feels: Adele is back!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Just in time for the gloomy weather, Adele is coming back to make you feel all the feels! The powerhouse vocalist has finally unleashed her killer new single and revealed her album’s release date.

Last week, during The X Factor UK, a mysterious snippet played during a commercial break with what sounded like Adele’s vocals.  Well, they were! Just days later, Adele posted an open letter to her social media accounts announcing her upcoming album 25.

The lead single, “Hello,” premiered on BBC Radio 1 on Friday.  While the artist writes in her statement that the album will be a “make-up” record, the track is more somber.  The song is about reuniting with a former lover and the process of moving on.  Over a piano melody, Adele’s vocals start the song off, giving you chills:

“Hello/it’s me/I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet/to go over everything/ they say that time’s supposed to heal ya/ but I ain’t done much healing”

The official video was also released Friday, check it out:

In the above statement, Adele noted that her life is very different from when she last released an album.  One could say her heart is on the mend.  Adele’s previous albums have been about heartbreak, but she’s had much more to be happy about in the four year gap between 21 and 25.  She fell in love and gave birth to her first child three years ago.  Even without releasing an album, she won awards for her James Bond theme “Skyfall,” for which she won a Grammy, Oscar, and a Golden Globe.

On October 22, she officially announced 25’s release date with a stunning image that many expect to be the album cover.  Later that day, in a press release, the track listing was revealed!
