One Direction Announces New Album

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Your favorite pop boy band is at it again. That is if you can confidently state you thought they were taking a break.

The lads announced their newest album Made in the A.M. is to be released in November 13th later this year. The fifth album has been written and recorded during their most recent world stadium tour On the Road Again.

Made in the A.M. is the debut album as a foursome since the departure of Zayn Malik in late March. The release of its first single, “Drag Me Down” was well received. This single was supported by the release of its music video featuring the lads preparing to depart on a NASA space mission.

The lyrics from the hook, “All my life you stood by me/ when no one else was ever behind me/ all these lights/ they can’t blind me/ with your love no body can drag me down.” As this is the first official single featuring Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson sans Zayn Malik these lyrics can be interpreted as a public statement in the best form a musician can. A ballad to their fans stating that you haven’t seen the last of them and with the support of such an enthusiastic fandom “Nobody can drag them down.” This is a beautiful to rebuttal the rumors of the band splitting.

With the announcement of their fifth album up for pre-order, the band also released a buzz track. Infinity brings something to One Directions collection that has been lacking on past albums: a break up song. This beautifully crafted single croons lyrics such as, “How many nights does it take to count the stars/ That’s the time it would take to fix my heart/ oh baby I was there for you/ all I ever wanted was the truth/ How many nights have you wished somebody would stay/ Lied awake only hoping they’re okay/ I’ve never tried counting all of mine/ if I tried I know it would feel like Infinity.”

With these two tracks being the kick off for “Made in the A.M.” Directioners can expect nothing less than perfection come November.
