The Kylie Lip Kit is Here!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

We kan’t keep kalm.

Your Christmas list just got a little longer! Kylie Jenner, notorious for her ever growing lips, has just released her highly anticipated lip kit.

The time has arrived to get envious lips like Kylie Jenner’s. The anticipation has been going on for months, but it really began Sunday, when Jenner instagrammed and tweeted a pic of the packaging of the lip kit with the caption “24 HOURS.”  The product even had its own Instagram account which released teasers into what the lip colors would look like.  In case you are wondering, the beauty product’s Instagram has garnered over 360,000 followers.

The colors are gorgeous and look strikingly similar to the ones Kylie has been displaying on her infamous lips for the past year.  First, you have a light pink (Candy K), a caramel shade (Dolce K), and a dark brown (TrueBrown K).  The texture is matte and the kit includes the lip wear and a matching lip liner.

According to the site, and not yet by personal research, the colors can be applied with only a single swipe which then “dries down to a powder-soft, matte finish.” The lip color is also oil-free and contains 25% pigment.  The website claims that is it made with “longwearing properties,” which is exciting considering how often lip color has to be reapplied.

The lip kits, which can be purchased online for $29.99, appeared to have sold out in less than one minute, which was later found out to be a technical difficulty.  It turns out, so many people were buying as soon as they came out and the site just couldn’t handle the traffic.  I guess you could say

she “broke the internet” like elder sister Kim Kardashian tried to do in 2014. Later in the day, however, the kits really did sell out, but Jenner confirms that more will be available before Christmas.

We first got wind of a Kylie Jenner lip venture this past Spring, when media outlets found a registered trademark.  Kylie later confirmed it herself and thus we waited in anticipation.  The venture made Kylie nervous who told MTV that she didn’t think anyone would buy the product.  She even admitted her struggle with how many orders to place.

The Jenner sisters have become quite the businesswomen, which runs in the family.  Mother Kris Jenner manages all six of her children, who have maneuvered their ways into the fashion and business world throughout the years of stardom.  Kendall and Kylie have launched three successful clothing lines, apps, and now beauty products.  Their influence, mainly Kylie’s, over pop culture is immense.

Just last year, teens were taking to social media with pictures of enormous and (probably) unhealthy lips.  The “Kylie Jenner lip challenge” was a social media phenomenon amongst teens literally hurting themselves to obtain the perfect pout.  Crazy.

King Kylie’s reign just isn’t letting up and probably won’t anytime soon.  She tells Interview magazine that she dreams of having successful makeup lines.  “If I could do whatever I wanted, I would have a successful makeup line, and I would want to hopefully start more businesses, and just be, like, a businesswoman,” says the 18 year old.  With the success of the lip kit, it looks like that dream is one to come true.
