DIY Pumpkin Spice Latté Body Scrub

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

One of the saddest moments as we close the fall season is the retirement of the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latté until next year. Of course we love a good Caramel Brulée Latté or Peppermint Mocha, but no seasonal beverage has our hearts like the PSL. Luckily, there’s a way to bring a bit of its magic into the winter season… with handmade body scrub! Hope you saved your pumpkins, collegiettes!

You will need:

  • Pumpkin guts – enough to make ½ cup pumpkin purée (if you pitched your pumpkins already, canned pumpkin will work too!)
  • ¼ cup coffee
  • ¼ cup sugar (regular, brown, or raw)
  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

1. Scrape your pumpkin guts into a blender. Purée it until it’s the consistency of baby food. If you’re opting for the canned pumpkin, skip this step!

2. Pour your pumpkin purée into an airtight container

3. Add the coffee, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and olive oil

4. Stir until everything is mixed evenly

Disclaimer: it smells much better than it looks!

To use: Take a spoonful of the scrub and put it in your hands. Apply to your body and scrub for 1-2 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Rub on some lotion (ideally pumpkin-scented!) and you’re finished. The scrub will keep in the refrigerator for about a week.
