A Collegiette’s Guide On Winter-To-Spring Wardrobe Transitioning

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Is anyone else sick of winter? Pretty sure us girls all feel like we’ve been wearing the same sweaters and scarves over and over just to keep warm, and switching it up to see how many different combinations we can make out of each is getting tiring. Unfortunately we can’t put the bulky jackets and earmuffs away just yet, which really sucks! At first, winter seems really pretty, but the fact that the snow just won’t disappear is concerning. So if the weather ever seems to get better, here are some tips on how to transition from bulky scarves to chunky necklaces, and from peacoats to sundresses:

  • Don’t immediately start wearing bright neon colors or pastels. Of course spring calls for these, but in the transitioning months of February and March, it’s best to stay in the comfort zone of the darker colors.
  • Do wear accessories that are light colored. A cute necklace with pastel colors, or daisy earrings would be just the right touch when it’s still cold but sunny out.

  • Don’t be ‘that girl’ who starts wearing shorts too soon. Let’s be real, we all know that one girl who takes advantage of 50 degree weather and has pasty legs, so don’t be her. Just wait!
  • Do wear a skater skirt or skater dress. These two can pair great with a crop top and cardigan, or even a light scarf. This look can earn you two thumbs up if you add opaque tights as well.

  • Don’t wear flip-flops just yet. Jumping the gun on flip-flops is ridiculous if you can keep wearing comfy shoes like UGGs or even rain boots, so wait until your little toes are manicured and it’s at least 65 and sunny out.
  • Do wear open-toed wedges. Of course these aren’t for everyone, but they really add to an outfit, even if it’s leggings and a long shirt. Just make sure you DON’T wear them with a sweater.

  • Don’t bring out the woven sun bags too early. As classy and chic as they are, wait a while until you’re going to the pool, or at least until the pool opens. Wearing the same bag for a couple months isn’t bad, especially if it holds up well and is a cute color.
  • Do take advantage of the great sales they have on designer bags at Macy’s. You can get some serious deals at the end of the season, especially on a fan favorite, Michael Kors!
