You’ve seen them donning their purple pineapple polos, manning the “juiciest events on campus,” but did you know that CAB executives Louis Spanos and Colten Gill have been dating for almost three years? That’s right, these cuties are high school sweethearts! Both SAEM majors, Colten is Vice President of the Campus Activites Board and Louis is the Coordinator of their Experience Pittsburgh board.

HC: How long you’ve been together/where you met?
LS: We’ve been together for almost 3 years (2 years and 9 months), we met in a movement class our senior year of high school. I scoped him out and called dibs against my friends to be his partner… obviously, I won.
CG: Louis and I have been together for almost three years now (it’ll be three in November), and we actually met back in high school. Our senior year I transferred to Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter school, and after about two months of awkward flirting in Stage Movement Class (I always did beat him in stage fighting, even if he says he let me win), we started dating.
HC: Name an interesting fact about one an other –
LS: Colten used to be a tri-state champion in motocross!!! He was sponsored and everything, the ‘lil dirt devil.
CG: An interesting fact about Louis is that he pronounces the word “wolf” “woof” and it’s honestly the cutest thing on the planet. It never fails to make me smile.
HC: Something you admire about each other –
LS: *to the tune of Your Song by Elton John* His are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen.
CG: Something I admire about Louis is his heart and love for others. He’s never afraid to stand up for those he believes in, and is one of my biggest inspirations. Whenever he interacts with people you can see his eyes light up as he wants those around him to be at their best. He’s inspired so many people, and I hope he knows how much he means to those he cares about.
HC: Favorite thing to do together –
LS: Netflix and chill… with our best buds, Ben & Jerry.
CG: One of our favorite things to do together is Netflix and chill. But seriously, we play Mario Kart too often and talk about how much we should be going to the gym while considering the walk to Ben & Jerry’s exercise for the week.
HC: What’s it like being executives of a major organization on campus together?
LS: It’s really not that big of a deal to us, to be completely honest, because we just do our own thing within the same organization. He’s on the marketing side of CAB being the Vice President of Marketing, while I’m on the programming side as the Experience Pittsburgh coordinator. We make sure we do our jobs and we’ve never really had any issues with each other, and just make sure to keep it professional within the context of CAB.
CG: Being executives of a major organization on campus with someone you’re in a relationship with definitely isn’t without it’s challenges. We both put in a lot of work, and sometimes our ideas about where to take CAB on campus differ. Our differing opinions only help to make us stronger both in our relationship and as individuals, as we’re able to push each other to be the best that we can be. In addition, having your support system understand what it’s like being a leader on campus is a tremendous asset, and something that I’m incredibly grateful for. It’s been an absolute thrill to see Louis mature in his position on CAB, and I know we’re both going to accomplish such great things.
