Bathing Suit Styles That Suit YOU Best

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

We all know what the basic swimsuit styles are: bikini, tankini, one-piece, and so on. But what we most often forget is which one of them actually looks best on us! Even if we decided on a bikini, what if it doesn’t fit our bust the way we want it to? Or what if our one piece is just not cut right? Rock a bathing suit no matter what type of body you have, and make summer fun by mixing it up with one or all of these cute swimwear options!

  • The bandeau- If you have a larger bust, the string will not be covering you for long with a triangle top. Try a bandeau bikini since it gives more coverage all around. It is way hard for that to fall off, especially if you attach the strap around the neck. Target is a great and inexpensive place to find these types of bikinis!
  • The cut-out one piece- This is a tough one … *sighs* … These have been around for a few years now, some good, some bad. The most flattering ones usually have more of an opening around the bust, and some great examples can be found at this website.
  • The tankini- These may have gone out of style for a while, but now they even have cute skirts to go with! Totally a fashion must, no matter what size or age you are. These are an especially good choice if you go on vacation with, say, your boyfriend’s family and want to keep your beachwear appropriate. You’ll look both wholesome and well-covered in a tankini style! This website gives you affordable and great quality ones to choose from.
  • The monokini- These hot new bikini/one-piece hybrids really bring out an edgy and sexy side whether you’re at a tropical beach or even if you’re just tanning out in your backyard. Regardless, everything about this hot commodity screams fashion must-have for summer ‘14! If you haven’t seen these before, check out Macy’s selection for a few ideas on what they look like.
  • As far as bottoms go- Make sure your cheeks are covered! With a string bikini, there is less coverage on the side and it won’t be able to hold all of that *Big Sean voice* ass, ass, ass, ass. The more you leave up to the imagination, the better! So try a hipkini bottom or high-waist style from Victoria’s Secret.
