Looking for some new music to grace your ears? Look no further than Phangs, Nashville-based artist Jake Germany’s dream-pop brainchild. Germany, who you may know from The Secret Handshake or Cardboard Kids, started this solo endeavor just a little over a year ago and is already making big waves in the music scene.

With one listen to his debut album Get In My Arms, it’s easy to see why. From the title track to “I Think I’m In Love?” to “Time Goes By”, the smooth electro-pop tunes and dream-pop lullabies will take you to a whole other world.
When listening, you’ll find that Get In My Arms is more than just an album; it’s a complete experience. With snippets of audio from home videos and lyrics that display pure raw emotion, you get an unfiltered look in to Germany’s life. It’s refreshing to listen to something so real.
Every song is a true joy, but the highlight of the album has to be “Always Been U”, which features fellow Nashville artist R. Lum. R (who also deserves a listen if you haven’t yet). With bouncing riffs and harmonic vocals, “Always Been U” is the kind of song you want to blast out your car speakers listening to.
Among all the well-deserved love around “Always Been U”, it’s important we don’t forget the song that started it all, “Cul De Sac”. Phangs first single, it is the song people often identify when they think of the artist. It is the epitome of a summer song, serving up some serious nostalgia from those summers you spent as a teenager.
Lucky for us, Phangs has announced a string of tour dates this fall so we can hear these beautiful songs in person. You can catch him on September 9th in Columbus, and trust me when I say the show will be well worth the drive from Pittsburgh.
