Amanda Brown ’17: Winner Of HC Point Park’s Social Media Contest

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Last week, HC Point Park hosted its very first Instagram/Twitter contest, and the winner is this week’s Campus Celeb! Meet Amanda Brown, a 19-year-old freshman from Red Lion, PA. She received a Her Campus Swag Bag for winning the contest that includes a $25 iTunes gift card, neuroSONIC and neuroSLEEP, Pura Vida bracelets, and a few other goodies. As a double major in Broadcast Reporting and Broadcast Programming/Production, we wanted to get to know Amanda and her goals for the future.

HC: What inspired you to go into broadcasting?

AB: I always had a passion to be on television and telling people the inside scoop of everything. I grew up in front of a camera; my dad filmed home movies of me ever since I was little. I still remember telling my dad the news of the day and telling him about my day like it was important! I feel like it’s something I am meant to do.

HC: What do you hope to do after graduating with degrees in Broadcast Reporting and Broadcast Programming/Production?

AB: I want to live in New York City and I want to make it onto the Today Show (hopefully on camera!)

HC: What experience do you have with broadcasting, and what are you working on now?

AB: I was a news anchor at my high school, and now I have been taking broadcasting and journalism classes.

HC: Who is your biggest on-camera inspiration?

AB: Ed Sullivan! I feel like he really made television for what it is today, entertainment-wise.

Look out for Amanda on the Today Show one day- we have a feeling she’s going to be a star! Congratulations again on winning our contest.
