HC: Tell me about ASMR and your interest in it?
AS: ASMR is Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. To me it is basically calming/tingling reaction to certain sounds. I’m a very anxious person and ASMR helps me calm down and helps me sleep.
HC: What is it like to be a Youtuber?
AS: It’s good and bad. Getting positive responses is nice but with ASMR especially people tend to confuse the positive feelings triggered from sound as sexual and I encounter a lot of creepy people sending me messages. It can be hard because not everybody likes the same sounds and sometimes I get suggestions I am uncomfortable making whether it be sexualized or a sound that does not give me a positive trigger.
HC: Why do you make videos?
AS: It’s a good feeling to know that these videos can help me. I used to watch videos and they really helped me and when I was researching ASMR for school I decided to make a video and I got a lot of positive feedback. I also make videos to help with my own ASMR triggers for videos I would like to hear but can never find.
HC: Will you pursue Youtube after college?
AS: I will do it as long as I keep getting suggestions and I am helping people.
HC: What do you want to do after graduation?
AS: I would like to be a casting director or talent agent.
HC: Who are your biggest influences in daily life and youtube?
AS: I really admire Jackie Kennedy’s ability to stay strong during difficult situations in my everyday life, and FairyCharASMR on Youtube because she always sends out a positive message and tries her hardest to reach out to everyone and make them feel special.Â
