Fashionable, hardworking, and mom-to-be, Alex Perry, shows the blogosphere what she’s made of on her widely-popular fashion blog: The Perry Rose Report. Not only does this Point Park junior keep up with her blog, but she also takes 21 credits a semester, is a very active member of the Fashion Club, and maintains her social life! Her Campus sat down with the Point Park fashion icon to get the scoop on her fabulous site and her own personal style:

HC: When did you first become interested in fashion?

AP: I definitely always have been interested in it, but really I got passionate about what I’m doing with blogging and everything about this time last year. Having a reason to research fashion, you end up getting to love it so much more!

HC: Where did the inspiration for “The Perry Rose Report” originally come from?

AP: I actually started my blog for a class assignment. I was able to start a blog about literally anything. My two favorite things are food and fashion, so I picked fashion and it took off and got me more interested in it. It wasn’t required for me to keep doing it after that class ended, but I’ve always wanted to try to fashion blog. The feedback from it was really what was inspiring because I had friends and family coming to me asking for advice and telling me that they read my posts. Hearing that people read my articles makes me want to write more. Above anything else, that’s the number one thing that inspires me.

HC: What does “The Perry Rose Report” feature?

AP: I do somewhat of modeling, so I like to post those pictures. I always like to post style trends I want to keep up with, like the Radiant Orchid for Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year. Any kind of fashion news, really just anything fashion related! I like to try to keep it “for the people” because I don’t want to regurgitate something you read on Vogue. Part of being a fashion blogger is having your own unique voice and translating it for people who maybe have the same interests as you, or maybe not at all, but they can still appreciate what you have to say.

HC: What are your plans and goals for the future of your blog?

AP: Right now I’m working on building a website, and I would really love to be able to utilize it to get me to Fashion Week. I went to fashion week before on a similar kind of thing, so I know that it’s possible. I’m in communication with a ton of fashion bloggers who made it there because of their blogs. I actually wrote a piece about how bloggers are going to get banned from Fashion Week, so if I were to eventually get chosen to do it, it would kind of reassure me that I’m doing something worth while. I love also just doing it for fun!

HC: As a fashion blogger, it’s obvious that you have a pretty keen sense of style, so what inspires your personal style?

AP: Definitely just whatever mood I’m in! Some days I’ll wake up and I’m like, “alright I’m not washing my hair, I’m going to through on a band t-shirt and some leggings and just go with it.” And other days I wake up and I’m like, “I want to put make up on today and I want to wear a skirt.” So I don’t have like one set style. A lot of style icons are known for one specific style. One that comes to mind is Olivia Palermo; she has a very conservative style, and I can be conservative one day and completely crazy the next. It’s just whatever mood I’m I when I wake up.

Keep up Alex Perry’s fashionable journey on Facebook, Twitter, and WordPress
